We are a network of qualified mental health professionals serving people in Japan and internationally.
Our founders are Dr. Furr (Director of Herald Square Psychology in New York and Tokyo) and
Andrew Parkinson (Past President of IMHPJ).
Our mission is to support the advancement of professional psychotherapy and psychiatric services within Japan, and to promote the American Psychological Association (APA) and New York State‘s Department of Education (NYSED) ethical standards for training and delivery of mental health services.
We award our certification of membership to professionals who meet JTA’s requirements for relevant, approved Master’s or PhD level training and verified hours of supervised experience.
Student Membership is available to individuals who have obtained a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, or a similar scientific discipline, from a college or university that meets U.S. or equivalent standards.
NOTE: Membership is immediate upon application and must be maintained by submitting degrees, transcripts, licenses and any other required supporting documents within 30 days. Membership fees are non-refundable.
Joining is immediate for those who are eligible. Simply fill out the online application,
pay the non-refundable fee of 8000 Yen for the Clinical Memberships & 4000 Yen for students (non-client facing) members and submit required proof of qualifications within 30 days.
We accept credit card and bank transfer.
Note: Applicants who hold current US licenses and / or current memberships with professional psychotherapy / mental health organizations in Japan may be exempt from submitting proof of qualifications.
